IPAF: The International Powered Access Federation are acknowledged as the organising body for the industry. The standards they set are accepted everywhere. When an operator has been trained through one of their training centres, the Powered Access Licence they receive carries real weight. Only IPAF qualified instructors are used.

IPAF Operator

Aims

To instruct an operator to prepare and operate scissor lift and self propelled boom. (Courses for other mobile elevating work platforms are available on request).

• The candidate will have, following the course, a working knowledge of sections 2-9 and 18-19 of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant regulations including the WAH 2005 Regulations. Be aware of risk assessment and how to implement this.
• Will be aware of accident control and prevention.
• The need for personal protective equipment.
• How to drive and safely manoeuvre a machine as required to a correct position and carry out a nominated task.
• The candidate will also be able to carry out a thorough pre-use inspection.
• Be aware of and operate the auxiliary or manual decent procedure.

The aim of the course is to inform and instruct nominated persons regarding the statutory requirements under the Work at Height Regulations 2005 in the safe installation and removal, inspection and use of mobile access towers.
